“Love is as strong as death, Jealousy as cruel as the grave; Its flames are flames of fire, A most vehement flame.”‭‭  Song of Solomon‬ ‭8:6‬ ‭

Stale unwanted essence
Seeping grimy through these ribs
Gasping, shallow
Gasping, shallow

Even thoughts are ghostly fingers
Grasping shadows
Shallow, deep

Where the worm eats out the core
Of rotten embers
Rotting deep

Shake it free
The rotten ember
All the stale unwanted grease

Burn the shadows
Burn the shadows

Jealousy is a cruel disease

  1. Two hearts I have inside of me
that vie for me and thee
A ruby that has once decreed
I am to let thee be
And angry emerald, dark and green
        which lays upon thee lien

Oh mourn this foolishness, I pray
         of choosing verdant stone
For I have lost thee in my grasp,
it’s chilled me to the bone
Surrounded though I be by men,
         without thee I’m alone.

Oh, how I wish I could go back
         and hear that crimsom gem
For if I had, I would not have
         to fall into the fen
Where thou art not, nor wilt thou be
         to see thy face again.
